April 2012 – April 2018 Senior Business Development Manager, techUK

techUK is the trade association representing the UK technology industry.  During the 6 years she was with the organisation, Alice was responsible for growing new member recruitment from £300k to £580k per annum.  Significant wins included the recruitment of Amazon Web Services, Google, Salesforce and Sage.  The role also included management of the junior team.

 

July 2008 – August 2011 Business Development Manager, Synectics Defence Systems

UK and ROW sales across the corporate product portfolio including IR cameras, covert and overt electro-optic and RF surveillance equipment, engineering support and managed security services.  Senior account manager for UK, MOD and HMG, delivering end-to-end specialist integrated surveillance solutions for military and defence applications.  Secondary accounts include UK and ROW commercial companies, airport and harbour authorities.  Successfully exceeded £2.5M – £2.8M annual quotas.  Responsible for business development in the Middle East working with selected third party providers and partner agencies, increasing total sales in the region by 270% in 2009/2010.  Created opportunities for, then delivered, technical product and system demonstrations within UK and ROW.  Provided input to senior engineers for product development in order to improve portfolio in accordance with customer needs and marketplace drivers.  Regular liaison with marketing colleagues to provide sales focus and direction for marketing literature, campaigns and exhibitions.

 

October 2002 – November 2012 Military Intelligence Officer, 7006(VR) Squadron RAuxAF

DV Strap TK clearance held.  Trained in Collection Co-ordination of Intelligence Requirements Management (CCIRM), Integrated Preparation of the Battlespace (IPB), Offensive Air Operations, and aspects of Electronic Warfare (EW) including radar and surveillance systems.  This included the use of secure RAF, MOD and NATO IT systems.  As a Flight Commander within the Sqn, she also managed the training and personal development requirements of a number of officers, senior NCOs and other ranks, writing their Annual Appraisals as First Reporting Officer and co-ordinating the output of the Flight with the needs of the Sqn and the direction of the Commanding Officer.

Operational tours included:

• Providing J2 support to the UK Joint Helicopter Force in Basra, Iraq and in Helmand Province, Afghanistan

• Deployment to MacDill Air Force Base, Florida USA, working at the strategic and operational level as the UK Intelligence Analyst embedded within a US Command HQ

• UK Intelligence Liaison Officer at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, embedded with the USMC Aircraft Wing intelligence community and HQ, also providing J2 support to the UK Joint Aviation Group Commander

 

April 2000 – June 2008 Sales Account Manager, Agilent Technologies Ltd (now Keysight Technologies)

During her time with Agilent’s Electronics Measurement Group, Alice had a number of sales roles and responsibility for managing an internal sales team.  This included managing both geographic and named accounts; major aerospace and defence accounts, and key commercial accounts such as Nokia, Intel and Motorola.  Alice was consistently successful with these roles, developing the accounts, growing business, opening up new opportunities and exceeding quota.  She also worked with customers across a broad business spectrum including R&D, universities and manufacturing.  Successfully sold into customers such as Intel, QinetiQ, Thales and UCL, winning deals of ~$450k.  Proactively managed accounts by using and developing business plans to work with the customers’ road maps, enabling their future business growth through the use of Agilent products, technical expertise and added value.  Managed and led a variety of projects including a marketing campaign across UK universities and new product UK launches.  These projects required extensive coordination with divisional contacts, use of marketing resources and a proactive business plan to enable penetration of accounts and development of sales opportunities.

 

May 1999 – October 2005, Goring Parish Council (voluntary representative)

Working as an elected councillor for the Goring community with an emphasis on planning considerations.  Activities included project management of the modernisation of the local burial ground, requiring an overhaul of its maintenance requirements, the writing of contracts and putting those contracts out to tender.

 

Jan 1999 – May 2000, Assistant to Executive Chairman of Henley Constituency Liberal Democrats

Media work, diary management and liaison with senior officials Co-ordinated a successful County Council by-election.  Worked with David Rendel MP on local campaign.  Invited to sit on PPC selection board.

 

July 1998 – December 1998, Cambridge Industries

Personal Assistant to the Director of Engineering. Managed overseas production schedules including working with Sales Director, supervision of junior engineers and secretarial staff, and facility management.  Company originally founded by Sir Clive Sinclair, designing and manufacturing Low Noise Blocks for satellite receivers

 

September 1991 – September 1994, ICI Polymer & Paints

R&D Scientific Chemical Engineer.  Spent two years as member of a team working on high-profile development project, the formulation of special effects waterbased refinish paint products and supervision of subsequent scale-up to manufacturing.  This involved self-management of responsibilities and working to deadlines.  Spent final year in the Strategic Research Laboratory working on silane polymers.  This involved iterative formulation, small-scale production of experimental latices and chemical analysis techniques.
