During the course of my musical career, I feel that I have grown into a well-rounded and sympathetic musician. I am classically trained as both a flute/piccolo player and singer with a passionate commitment to high-quality performance and tutoring. I feel that it is a professional musician’s duty to provide accessible and inspirational performances for all – and equally as important, fantastic and interactive learning opportunities for aspiring musicians, be that in the form of private & group tutoring or masterclasses & workshops. I feel that music is an integral part of the curriculum and as musicians, we should be pushing for it to once again move to the forefront of teaching within schools. Private co-educational schools are in a uniquely able position to do this and I feel that as the new Head of Woodwind, I could aid the school in this pursuit and support the students in their musical and educational journey. Having been educated in a state-funded secondary school and having worked in a prestigious school such as Millfield, I have an insight into the importance – or lack thereof, of music, in both of these differing areas of education.

I have enjoyed a rich performing life and have performed routinely as part of small and large scale instrumental and vocal ensembles. This has included: performing with the English Concert Orchestra and many freelance ‘scratch’ orchestral and operatic projects, performing the Reinecke Flute Concert in D major as a soloist with Walsall Symphony Orchestra; working with numerous choral ensembles, performing a huge diversity of repertoire, from Renaissance polyphony through to contemporary choral works by composers such as Gjeilo and Esenvalds; and performing as a Chamber Musician and soloist in several small music festivals across the country.
